Managua, Nicaragua |
Our first expedition to Nicaragua had 2 volunteers from DC, 1 from San Francisco, and 5 from SLC. They were able to start the 66 latrines in Sanchez 2, and bought fruit trees and planted seeds for the farm orphanage. They worked hard every day and then the expedition was capped off with a sail boat trip to Costa Rica. The local support was great. We are eager to get the next group going. We will publish on our web site the suggested dates to go down. We will entertain any other dates with notice and we require atleast 4 go down. Please look at our website for the pictures of the charter expedition. Many of you don't know but the LDS Charities has donated $22000 to pay for the supplies we use down there. Hence, our costs are greatly reduced because the supplies have been paid for. You need a passport and shots. The cost per volunteer is $650. We like the expedition to be one week. We love families to go. It is hard work for those who can work but the greatest work we do is just being there. The experience of helping people in such desperate circumstances is truly gratifying. A local doctor lady went into the village where we were working and examined 75 children. The parents were so appreciative. They had never had there children examined by a doctor.
We do have on the website the forms for you to get a passport. Please contact us as soon as you can so we can start the scheduling. We would like to send a group every month.
The local help is wonderful. They house and feed the volunteers. Those who help us treat us like special guests. Our returning volunteers have reported back that they have new friends and want to return to help some more.
Please visit the web site. www.charityanywhere.org
We are eager to cooperate with your schedule and agenda.
Thanks, Gordon
