Cumbaya, Ecuador, February 28, 2004 On Saturday, February 28, 2004, the local volunteers of the Charity Anywhere Foundation joined forces with the Rotary Club, travelling to nearby Cumbaya to give both medical and dental support to children at a local school. The medical crew consisted of husband and wife team, Drs. Cordava. And the dental crew was composed of three dentists, Dr. Washington Zambrano, Dr. Fernando Zurita and Dr. Marta Cecilia along with the help of assistants, Jenny, Keirly Morris, Jaime Vandenberg, Anita Zambrano, Jessica Butkovich, Hugo Cere and the faithful technician Mesias Celin. Despite a few technical problems during the day as a result of the power supply, everything ran smoothly. The project was a success serving approximately 200 children. The crew began working at 9:00, stopping at 1:30 to have lunch, and then continued to work until 3:00 until all the children had been helped. The children received medication for numerous conditions and illnesses. Most popular were anti-parasites and medication for the common cold. In the dental building each child whether they needed or wanted work done, were given individual lessons on how to brush their teeth, flouride treatments and their own toothbrush and toothpaste. All those who were involved left with a wonderful feeling of service, and will forever have the faces and smiles of the children etched in their hearts.
Our expedition for October 18, with the Rotary Club. For children of Cumbaya Area We were at 8:00 a.m and our team had 7 Dentists, 5 Medical Doctors and 2 nurses. Our special thanks to Dr. Carlos Guerra, Dr. Fernando Zurita, Dr. Jorge Beltrán, Dr Isabel Dávila, Dr Iván Ramírez, Dr Gabriela Martínez, nurse sister Pitcher and Gina Arévalo. The missioneries Huntsman´s and Hale´s volunteers Rachel Carter and Mesías Celin. We helped 285 children with medical and dental care. We gave them vitamins , tooth brushes and toothpaste and specific medicines for 1,000 american dollars.
